Welcome to the LAMS 2.0 Development Wiki

LAMS 1.1 is now LAMS 2.0

LAMS 1.1 (or Dolly) has now been rebranded to LAMS 2.0.

Initially we thought that we could reuse some code from the original LAMS 1.0.x branch. But in the last few months we have realized that it was cleaner and easier to completely rewrite LAMS to follow our new Architecture.

LAMS CVS Now Public

Our CVS server is now publicly available. Follow the instructions to build and develop LAMS. If you have any further questions, post them in the LAMS Community.

About this Wiki

What is this Wiki for?

This wiki is for the technical discussion and development of the new version of LAMS (Learning Activity Management System): LAMS 2.0 or Dolly. For information on previous versions of LAMS (1.0.x) please see the LAMS Foundation website.

If you are looking for LAMS support, see the LAMS Community, the global online community for all teachers, administrators and developers that use LAMS or LAMS International for commercial support and hosting services.

Is this Wiki for me?

This wiki will be of interest only to people who are developing LAMS source code or are interested in the architecture used in LAMS 2.0.

Like most wikis, we add to the wiki as we think of it and bits of it will be out of date.

Interested in learning about developing LAMS? Start with the Overview. The Glossary of Terms is a handy reference to what we mean when we say "learning design", "activity", "tool session" and so on. When you are ready to start programming, consult Building LAMS and the Tool Contract.

What are the features of LAMS 2.0 and what's the current development status?

LAMS 2.0 has a new architecture as well as vast number of new features and improvements. This page will give you an up-to-date status of the project as well as show you animations (winks) and pictures on our alpha version of LAMS 2.0.

I know there was something somewhere on blah. How do I find it?

Having trouble trying to find something? Try the following tips:

  • Use Quick Search (up in the right top corner). Try a few different spellings - most of our wiki writers are in Australia so there is a mix of Australian spellings and US spellings. So for "internationalization" you will need to also try "internationalisation".
  • Make sure you have child pages showing. At the bottom of the page (above comments), look for the Children section. If it is not displayed, look for an entry like "10 children". If you see "n children" then click on this link to display all the children of a page.
